R & A Performance Horses is owned and operated by Russ and Alyssa Boender, and is located in Lake Village, Indiana.

As an Animal Science graduate from Michigan State University, Alyssa was involved extensively with the Intercollegiate Equestrian Team and Horse Judging Team.  As a member of the Horses Judging Team, she achieved numerous accolades including being Top Ten at the AQHA World Show, 2nd High Team Member in Performance at The Quarter Horse Congress, Top 5 Overall at the U.S. Arabian Nationals, and winning the Halter Division at the APHA Judging Contest. 

As a rider and trainer, Alyssa has extensive experience in many disciplines.  She has competed successfully in Eventing, Dressage, Hunters, Western Pleasure, Jumpers, and Reining.  After completing her Bachelor’s Degree, she was an assistant for Casey Hinton at Cedar Ridge in Whitesboro Texas.  There she trained under the guidance of a Top 20 NRHA Rider with Earnings in excess of $300,000.

Horses that have been trained at R & A Performance Horses are AQHA/IBHA/APHA Point Earners, AQHA World Show Qualifiers, NRHA Money Earners, IBHA Honor Roll Champions, USDF Horse of the Year Candidates, and USDF All-Breed Award Winners to name a few. 

We pride ourselves in providing the utmost care and proper training for each horse we have.   Our facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas, acres of pastures, and trails.
